  3. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface to help encourage an even burn in future.
  4. Before each subsequent use, allow the wax to cool completely and trim the wicks again before relighting.

Birch stands pale amongst the darkness, its bark catching the last traces of firelight. A thread of juniper moves through the cooling air, aromatic and green against the smoke.
